Recap: The Secretary of State is considering the two major Highsted Park planning applications for land to the south and east of Sittingbourne and to the west of Teynham. These proposals feature 8400 new homes and major new infrastructure. The decision on the planning applications is now being made at Government level.

Update: Following a further round of submissions, the Government has now shared responses from the applicants, Swale Borough Council, Kent County Council, National Highways, Five Parishes and the Teynham and Highsted Community Action Group. Copies of the information can be viewed below.

All parties have until 25 September to comment on this new material.

Because of the amount and detail of the information submitted, the Secretary of State has extended the timetable for a decision. A decision is now expected on or before 12 November 2026.

The Action Group will now review the latest responses and consider whether any further comments are needed.
